Speech Language Therapist

Redwood Psychology

Joyce is passionate about helping individuals with special needs grow in their communication skills, particularly individuals with Autism. She began her career as a Behavioural Therapist and quickly discovered her love in bridging and building the relationships between the parents and their children, leading to her pursuit to be a Speech Language Therapist (SLT). In the past two decades, Joyce's clinical experience includes serving children and adults with speech, language, literacy and social communication disorders as well as learning disabilities. Joyce took on an interesting path in her professional development as a SLT. She had the unique opportunity to serve as the pioneer batch of SLT at Dyslexia Association of Singapore, then at Pathlight School.

Being in these pioneering roles allowed her to develop strategic planning skills and move beyond direct intervention to design and implement service delivery models and sustainable programmes. She also values the importance of working with the caregivers and other professionals. This has led to her next passion; providing training and coaching to bring about more lasting and meaningful change. Through empowering the caregivers and other professionals and working with systems of care, she hopes to bring about a more inclusive society where people with neurodiversity can connect meaningfully with the rest of the society.

Joyce finds it immensely fulfilling to be a part of people’s journey as they experience the joy in building authentic relationships. Outside of work, Joyce relishes her time engaging in deep conversations over meals with her family and friends. As a mother of three energetic children, she gets her daily dose of joy through the good-humoured bantering and appreciation of their little quirks. Joyce is a fully registered Speech Language Therapist (SLT) under Allied Health Professional Council in Singapore and is experienced in supervising new SLTs. She is proficient in English, Mandarin and Hokkien.
