Principal Social Worker

Care Corner Singapore

Jean is a registered social worker with coming two decades of social work leadership, management and practice experience. She started her career in the social services working with at-risk youth and their families in schools and the community. Through that stint in the early stages of her career, Jean developed an interest in uncovering the assets in the community and co-creating with them sustainable and systemic solutions for impact.

Jean is passionate about capacity building in both the clients and staff whom she works with. She has reviewed and redesigned various community programmes to posit a strong empowerment and community support intervention approach. With a strong interest in leadership and organizational development, Jean has piloted and implemented various learning platforms for in-house training and development for staff and she intentionally spends time coaching and mentoring staff under her charge.

Through her work with Circle of Care in the recent years, Jean oversaw the Phase 3 scale-up of a pioneering cross-sectoral preschool based model of care for children of low-income families. She also oversaw the consultancy services to support the national scale-up of the KidSTART programme. Jean hopes to champion for a greater focus on cross sector collaboration amongst the early childhood, education, social services and healthcare sectors so children can have a strong and safe foundation built in their early years.

Jean was conferred the Promising Social Worker Award by President Tony Tan in 2012.

Jean shares her knowledge with the wider sector through her training engagements with both Social Service Institute (2016 to 2019), as well as the Family Resource and Training Centre (2016 till present).
