Topic: C.E4 Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports (PBIS): Partnering families to promote positive behaviours and social-emotional competence in young children

Synopsis: Do you find yourself having to deal with the same behaviour challenges in your classroom on a daily basis? Do you often feel frustrated and helpless, and wonder how you can partner families and caregivers to support the behaviours and healthy social emotional development in your students?

Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, 3-tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioural, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. The Pyramid Model, also known as the Program-Wide Positive Behaviour Interventions and Support (PW-PBIS), is a framework of evidence-based practices to guide early educators and families in preventing and addressing challenging behaviours, and promoting positive behaviours and social-emotional competence in infants and young children.

This workshop will introduce participants to the key components of the Pyramid Model and the application of evidence-based practices in their classrooms. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to reflect on the use of strategies for partnering with families to promote child outcomes.
