Topic: C.E2 Working Together to Support Children's Transition from Preschool to Primary School

Synopsis: The transition from preschool to primary school is a significant milestone for children, representing one of the most important changes they would have to manage at that age. There is a crucial need for all key stakeholders to work together to avoid academic overpreparation in the early years and ensure children experience the joy of learning.

The workshop will cover what to prioritise to effectively support children's transition to primary school and provide examples of academic overpreparation which may hinder the transition process. It will also offer insights into how preschools can enhance their teaching and learning practices and create supportive environments to better prepare children for the transition to primary school and for lifelong learning. Additionally, the workshop will explore strategies for how preschools can collaborate with and engage parents on how best they too can support their child’s transition to primary school.

By the end of the workshop, participants can expect to gain clarity on what to prioritize in supporting children's transition and insights into specific next steps they can take to better support children during this significant phase of their lives.
