Topic: A.E7 Being part of the village: A workshop on collaboration in the care of children with special needs
Synopsis: We've all heard of the proverb, "It takes a village to raise a child". This is all the more true for children who have special needs. As educators and professionals in the field of early childhood education, how can we mobilise and engage our "village" effectively to help these students?
Through this workshop, we will explore:
- Why a collaborative approach is so essential for children with special needs
- Common difficulties educators and professionals face when attempting to collaborate with others
- How to collaborate? What can each member of the village contribute?
- What we can do in an individual capacity to encourage/promote collaboration
- How to keep the momentum going after we collaborate
