Topic: A.E2 Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports (PBIS): Promoting positive behaviours and social-emotional competence in young children
Synopsis: Do you find yourself having to deal with the same behaviour challenges in your classroom on a daily basis? Do you often feel frustrated and helpless, and wonder how you can support the behaviours and healthy social emotional development in your students?
Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, 3-tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioural, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. The Pyramid Model, also known as the Program-Wide Positive Behavioural Interventions and Support (PW-PBIS), provides a framework of evidence-based practices to prevent and address challenging behaviours, and promote positive behaviours and social-emotional competence in infants and young children.
This presentation will introduce participants to the key components of PBIS in early childhood classrooms. Participants will learn about the benefits of these universal evidence-based practices and reflect on the application of these practices in their classrooms.
